What upgrades did you add? Stucco and stone on the exterior, clay tile roof, Tavertine marble throughout, many upgrades to the kitchen, summer kitchen, media room, granite throughout, and many others!
What was your reason for building? We had our “perfect dream house” in our minds for many years and wanted to build it exactly the way we wanted it. There was no way we were going to find what we wanted on the open market, so we decided to build. Plus, we felt like we could get more home for our money doing it ourselves, which turned out to be true.
Why did you choose UBuildIt? We had no prior building experience, so we felt like we needed consultation and assistance in issue resolution, and wanted control of the building process and selection and budgeting and options.
What was the hardest part about building? Dealing with the city was a big issue. Some of the subcontractors caused us problems — but it was a very small percentage.
What was the best part of building? We really got involved in the process, probably even more than most UBuildIt customers. We were meticulous in making sure the work was done exactly the way we wanted it. It was very gratifying to see the home progress from design, to planning, to building. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire process.
How much time did you spend on the Project? It was almost like having another full time job — but we were involved with every detail. We spent 2 to 3 hours a day during a week, plus weekends and holidays working on this home.
Any other comments? Building our own home turned out to be more work than we anticipated, but the process was very enjoyable from start to finish. The finished product is exactly what we wanted. I don’t see that we would have gotten this home any other way. Thank you UBuildIt!
