Bob & Angie Peck - Custom Home Builder Testimonial

Peck Residence

"Because of the savings on the home, we were able to upgrade the energy efficiency in several areas, including better windows and doors, spray cellulose insulation, and geothermal heat and hot water. So the home not only cost us less to build, it will cost us less to operate for years to come"
-- Bob & Angie Peck

Project Stats:

Location: Jessamine County, Kentucky

Home Cost: $332,000

Appraised At: $389,000

Instant Equity: $57,000

What upgrades did you add? Geothermal heat, hardwood floors throughout, precast Superior Walls in basement, Energy Star Certified home, crown molding throughout.

What was your reason for building? We wanted to build our own home.

Why did you choose UBuildIt? We didn’t have the budget to buy the home we really wanted, so we decided to do it ourselves, with the help of UBuildit, of course! We ended up getting exactly what we wanted, and even included several upgrades we never would have added otherwise.

What was the hardest part about building? Getting good subcontractors and getting them to show up when promised is always a challenge, and we did have a few problems. Luckily we had UBuildIt to fall back on and they helped us when needed.

What was the best part of building? We enjoyed being involved every step of the way, including doing some of the work ourselves. My dad is very handy and helped install the hardwood floors and hang doors and install trim. The whole family pitched in to paint the interior walls and complete the exterior landscaping.

How much time did you spend on the project? I frequently travel with my  job, so Angie basically managed the project herself. Depending on the phase of the project, she spent 1 to 2 hours a day—except of course when we were actually doing some of the work.

Any other comments? UBuildIt was behind us the whole way. They helped us
in the design phase, loan processing, and getting subs. They have been very responsive with any question, concerns, and problems. I can recommend this process to anyone.
