UBuildIt Giving Tulsans Opportunity to Dream Big
Tulsa Free Press - Tulsa, OK
Oprah has been promoting a new program not unlike "The Secret," called "A New Earth," in which one visualizes what he/she wants and miracles are said to happen.
Interestingly, there is a company in Tulsa one might say is in the business of making dreams come true, too: UBuildIt. Perhaps a little less dramatic and metaphysical, more nuts and bolts and pragmatic, but if a customer can visualize it, UBuildIt can help take the nightmare out of planning, budgeting and building a customized home.
"An owner has much more control during the building process," says John Fisher, construction consultant and one of three owners. "People who want to be more involved in the overall process of decision making become great decision makers."
The proprietors have a cumulative cache of 70 years of experience in the home-building industry.
The ultimate goal of UBuildIt is to create a system of project management that makes the construction process manageable, enjoyable, fulfilling and profitable. Ambitious homeowners all hear horror stories of projects that went way above budget and past deadlines at great cost to the owner/builders. The undeniable advantage of being guided by UBuildIt is a reputation not only among happy customers but also a strong relationship with subcontractors and contractors alike. UBuildIt has earned a quality reputation among purveyors, architects, builders, landscapers, and artesian of the area.
There's not a lot of waste with UBuildIt. Priorities are set. What is most important to the customer will stay. Things they don't want or could do without, pass by the wayside to stretch dollars as far as they will go. UBuildIt educates the client with an overall outline and overview of the construction process, terminologies used, expectations of all parties involved and detailed project planning.
In addition to finding quality supplies for the best prices, UBuildIt is in a unique position to track down out-of-the-way materials asked for by some customers.
Clients of UBuildIt Bobby and Judy Bomer are active in their community and in life. They recently retired and are actively involved in the Tulsa running community. It became a hobby as well as a serious endeavor for the Bomer's to build the home they have always wanted. Tulsa architect Jeremy Perkins recommended Fisher and UBuildIt for their project.
"This was our first time to take on such an enormous project," the couple says. "We were excited because we felt confident in the consultations and support we felt. Each step of the way, we had a plan. When we had questions, they were just a phone call or site visit away. UBuildIt gave us peace of mind.
"Nooks were tailor made for the owner to display lovely pieces of glass. Accent lighting displaying their art was a lovely surprise. Stained concrete on the lower level activity room and bath was not only low maintenance but aesthetically pleasing. With concrete walls of eight inches thick (3500psi), the temperature stays a consistent 55 degrees. Even during the harsh ice storm and power outage, the two-by-six inch walls offered protection. On the fourth day without power, the temperature inside never dropped below 47."
John Fisher calls a meeting about once a week to be sure everyone is on the same page and to derail any unforeseen problems. Discussions are held wherein crews work out what they are doing so as not to end up tripping over each other which can slow progress.
UBuildIt has gained a quality reputation not only with individuals wishing to build their own homes, but the subcontractors and suppliers necessary to ensure a quality outcome. Having reliable and trustworthy partnerships throughout the entire process is part of what has created the reputation UBuildIt has today.
